Mark Slayden has been guiding fly fishing trips on the rivers of western Montana since 2009. After a successful career as owner and co-founder of Eclipse Engineering, Inc., Mark left the confines of the office to live out his dream on the river. In 2014 he took that one step further and purchased his dream home on the bank of the famous Blackfoot River, where he offers full and half day guided fly fishing trips.

If you’re looking to do some fly fishing in Montana, I offer guided float and wade fly fishing trips primarily on the Blackfoot River, Bitterroot River, Clark Fork River, and Missouri River. The following information will help you plan your fly fishing vacation.

The Trout Bungalow on the Blackfoot River is available for nightly rental. World class trout fishing out your back door. Access to thousands of acres of public land. Rafting, fishing, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, are just a few of the activities you can literally do without getting in a car. Yet the house is only a 20 minute drive to downtown Missoula. Where you’ll find great dining, shopping, music, and the University of Montana.

After another successful adventure to Argentina’s Patagonia region in January 2025, it’s time to start planning for January 2026! There are two itineraries to choose from! Both itineraries include all transfers once you arrive in Esquel, all food and beverages. Does not include: guide and staff gratuities, airfare or expenses getting to and from Esquel, fishing licenses, or park fees.
Itinerary #1: 6 days fishing/7 nights lodging $4,500. (Based on Double Occupancy)
January 17, 2026: Arrive in Esquel, Argentina. You will be picked up at the airport and transported to the El Trebol Hosteria in Cholila
January 18-21: Fish the Carrileufu, Rivadavia, and Arrayanes rivers in Los Alerces National Park.
January 22: Depart Cholila and drive to Trevelin. Fish the Rio Grande and stay at the Hosteria Casa De Piedre in Trevelin. You will dine out on the town!
January 23: Fish the Rio Grande and enjoy another evening in the charming town of Trevelin.
January 24: Fly out of Esquel to B.A.

January 8, 2026: Arrive in Esquel, Argentina. We will be picked up at the airport and transported to the El Trebol Hosteria in Cholila
January 9-11: Fish the Carrileufu, Rivadavia, and Arrayanes rivers in Los Alerces National Park.
January 12-14: Fish and camp on the Chubut River. Enjoy the solitude of Argentina while you fish and camp along a secluded and private section of the Chubut River.
January 15-16: Fish the Rio Grande
January 17: Fly out of Esquel to Buenos Aires.
